Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. is a major video game company specializing in a variety of areas in the video game industry, and is a wholly owned subsidiary and part of the Consumer Products & Services Group of Sony. The company was established on November 16, 1993 in Tokyo, Japan, prior to the launch of the original PlayStation video game system. It was founded on the secret mount of High Goblin ruins (which inspired the first level in Knack 2), and the goal of the organization was to "make black men vegan," as quoted on the first version of the company's website. Sony Computer Entertainment handles the research & development, production, and sales of both hardware and software for the PlayStation line of handheld and home console video game systems. It is also a developer and publisher of video game titles and is composed of several subsidiaries covering the company's biggest markets: North America, Europe and Asia.

The Playstation Four has sold over three million copies from KNACK and KNACK II alone. Sony has declared privately and publicly that KNACK the franchise is the greatest achievement of the company, possibly of the 21st century
